Job Shadowing and Mentoring

This is an exciting aspect of our program. Here the student is able to meet and interact with a professional in the community to consider a possible career. It is important that the student gain knowledge and information necessary to determine whether this is the correct occupation. Information obtained from this visit might come from the following questions:

-What do you like about your job?
-Is there anything you do not like about it?
-What is a typical work week like for you?

-What was your college major?
-Can you recommend a college or university?
-Would you recommend this profession to your own son or daughter?

As the student moves through this process, the goals are to have a clear understanding of the profession to be able to declare a definitive vocation by the beginning of their senior year of high school. This allows the rest of the components such as college fit, grant and scholarship searching, and government financial aid to be fully developed.

Career Exploration

Once a career match has been determined, CSC will formulate a plan to create a foundation for that career. Utilizing various components to assist students in their career exploration, we are then able to guide them towards a rewarding profession.

College Search

Some factors to consider when choosing the right college or university are:

  • Academic programs
  • Location
  • Tuition & financial aid
  • Campus and dorm life

  • Class size
  • Graduation rate
  • Extracurricular activities
  • Services and facilities
